Information collected
What information does the app collect?
By default, our apps don't collect and send any personally identifiable information from your device. All videos and recordings are stored locally on your device only, and we can't remotely view any of your recordings.
However, some optional features on GhostTube will require additional information from you to be collected from us, such as:
- If you create a GhostTube account, you may be required to provide your email address for the purpose of authenticating and managing your account.
- If you use the haunted locations map, you may be asked to provide your location so that we can show you nearby haunted locations.
- If you create posts on the Explore tab, then your posts may be visible to other users, including any photos, videos or links shared in your post.
What permissions does the app request and why?
In most of our apps, all of the permissions requested are completely optional and will only be asked when trying to use certain features. You can deny these permissions, but some features may not be available to you if you do:
- Camera permissions - This permission allows you to record your paranormal investigations using your camera. You can deny this permission, but if you do you will not be able to record videos.
- Microphone permissions - This permission allows you to record your paranormal investigations using your microphone and provide realtime information about sound anomalies captured. It is not used to listen to you or in generating any words or responses. You can deny this permission, but if you do you may not be able to record your sessions and the sound visualizer features won't be available to you.
- Push notifications - This permissions allows us to notify you when someone comments or likes the content you share and recommended content for you. You can deny this permission, but if you do you may not be aware when other users are engaging with your posts.
- Location permissions - Our app has a haunted locations map which can show you nearby haunted locations and evidence tagged by other users. You can deny this permission, but if you do, haunted locations recommended to you may not be relevant to you and the map feature may not be accurate.
- App Tracking - The social media component of our app uses a third party Ad network to serve ads. This ad network may use cookies to track you across multiple websites so that they can serve ads that are personalized to you. You can deny this permission, but if you do, ads served may be irrelevant or uninteresting to you.
How long is information retained?
Any recordings you make are kept on your device only - we don't have access to and don't collect any video or audio recordings from your device. If you choose to create an account and share user generated content on our social media community, this will be kept until you choose to delete your account or until you delete any posts that you create.
Who do we share information with?
By default, no personal information is collected and therefore no personal information is shared with third parties. However, some features like creating an account, posting content to our community, or making purchases on our website will require us to share information with third parties or overseas. We publish a list of third parties we use and why we use them here.
