Claiming a Business

GhostTube provides a social media community (GhostTube Explore) that allows users to share paranormal content, photos, stories and more. In addition, it provides access to one of the world's most comprehensive database of haunted locations, which users can use to plan their investigations, obtain contact information and tag their evidence. Our database is driven by our large community of users that contribute information about haunted locations from all over the world.

While most content in our database is provided by users, we understand that some business owners that run paranormal venues may want to control the information displayed about their business. By claiming a business, users will no longer be able to suggest changes to that businesses name, description, contact information or social media accounts.

 

Requirements to claim a business

To claim a business you need to have the following:

  • You must have GhostTube account, with a verified email address, AND
  • Your account must not be banned, AND
  • The business page in GhostTube must have an official website address that is not a social media account (e.g. hauntedhouse.com)

In addition, you must have one of the following:

  • Access to the business' website DNS record (see below), OR
  • An email address of the same domain as the businesses web address (e.g. bob@hauntedhouse.com)

 

How to claim a business

To claim a business in GhostTube, find the business using GhostTube's search functionality. Once found, tap on the  "..." button near the top of the page and tap "Claim this business".

If you have an official email with the business (e.g. bob@hauntedhouse.com), then you can opt to have a link sent to your email to verify the business.

If you don't have an official email with the business, but you have access to manage the business' website hosting/domain, you can also verify ownership of the business by adding a TXT record to the DNS record. Instructions to do this will be sent to you via email, but if you're not sure what it is you'll need to work with your website administrator or service provider. 

Regardless of the method used to verify your business, you'll have 7 days to do so otherwise your request will expire and the business can be claimed by other users.
